Civatte bodies' are present in the lower part of the epidermis and are composed of net like amorphous masses. When present in the epidermis, these bodies are composed of waverly arranged fine filaments entangled with melanosomes, desmosomes and other organelles. Formation of Civatte bodies is thought to be due to basal cell liquefaction degeneration and hypergranulosis.

Circulating autoantibodies and immune complexes are due to loss of normal immune tolerance and are pathogenic. 2020-11-10 Background: Poikiloderma of the face and neck (Civatte) has not been studied in depth for decades, especially as far as the histopathology is concerned. Material and methods: We studied 50 consecutive patients with poikiloderma of Civatte (PC). Their evaluation included: history, physical examination, lesional skin biopsy and histological examination of sections stained with hematoxylin-eosin Poikiloderma of Civatte is characterised by confluent reddish-brown patches with atrophy that symmetrically involve sun-exposed areas such as the sides of the neck and lateral aspect of the cheeks.

Civatte bodies were not confined to the basal layer. The findings suggest that cell-mediated regression may occur in common warts, similar to that described in plane warts. Warts treated with injections of bleomycin show confluent epidermal necrosis, single apoptotic keratinocytes, and diffuse neutrophil infiltration of the epidermis, with abscess formation in the granular layer. 519

Dyskeratotic keratinocytes (so called Civatte bodies) are frequently seen at the basal layer. Civatte bodies are PAS positive. Eosinophils are uncommon in conventional cutaneous lichen planus. Lichen planus may occur on mucosal surfaces such as the oral mucosa or genitalia. Results: There were 34 females (68%) and 16 males.

Colloid-amyloid bodies in PUVA-treated human psoriatic patients. Hashimoto K, Kumakiri M. In 4 cases of PUVA-treated psoriatic patients a number of colloid bodies and amyloid-like deposits were seen at the dermo-epidermal junction, in a very similar fashion the colloid bodies and the amyloid substances are deposited in lichen planus and in primary cutaneous anyloidoses respectively.
